  4. Hello Mrs. Abernethy's Ponderous Pandas! My name is Steve Stoltz and I'm from Charlotte, NC. I had the great experience of playing a Peacekeeper in the Hunger Games movie. I have to say I'm a huge fan of the trilogy and think it's great you have a whole blog on the subject. My wife works as a Instructional Technology Facilitator for Union County Public Schools and Skyped with you recently and told me about the blog.

I was lucky enough to meet all the stars in the movie and had them sign my Hunger Games book. I see that you're voting for "Who's the Best." I hope to see some PeaceKeeper votes as the "Best". Let me know if you have any questions regarding my experience filming in the Hunger Games and may the odds be ever in your favor!!

    2. Hi! This is Melia. I worked on this blog too, and I thank you as well for commenting on this blog. I have a few questions for you. Were the movies like how you imagined the books to be? How did you get casted as a PeaceKeeper? Did you get to meet suzanne collins? I thank you once again for commenting, and I am very glad to meet you.

    3. Hello Melia. Very good questions. I thought they did a nice job of keeping most of the movie very similar to the book. While I was in the District 12 reaping scene I felt like I stepped into the book. I felt they captured the emotion and stress of that moment very well.

How I got casted is an interesting story. My oldest daughter read the book 2 years ago. She told me that Hunger Games was the best book she had ever read. Since my daughter has read a lot of books I knew it must be a good book so I started to read it. While reading it a family friend informed me that they were holding a casting call in the Charlotte area. As a result, my wife took my two daughters to the casting at a mall. When the they got to the mall there were 3,000-4,000 people waiting in line. My wife realized that she didn't bring pictures along with the required paper work. So she had me drive my daughters school pictures. Since minors require to have an adult on set the casting director recommended my wife and I bring pictures and paperwork to the casting that was going to take place the following week.
We did and two weeks later I recieved a call to be a Peacekeeper. Unfortunatly I was the only one to be selected from our family.
I did meet Ms. Collins but at the time I didn't realize it was her. During the reaping in district 12, Ms. Collins is the head nurse taking blood. In the movie you only see her hand and hear her say, "next". The next day we were told the heard nurse was Suzanne Collins.
